Business Development Manager
This interview process was a complete disaster. I first applied in 2015 for the ABDM role but was steered towards a more senior opening. They ended my candidacy because they felt I didn't have enough prior experience. In 2016, I reapplied for the associate position. It started with several phone screenings, followed by two separate panel interviews with different teams. The hiring manager seemed very confident I'd get an offer, possibly for the senior role. However, after over a month of no communication, I found out the position was eliminated and they stopped hiring. It was such a waste of my time.
- Given your startup experience, how do you envision adapting to Daymon's extensive and bureaucratic structure?

Applied online and heard back in a few days. Had a preliminary phone chat with HR to make sure I was a real person. Then, a phone interview with the hiring manager where we mostly talked about my resume. After that, I went in for a face-to-face interview with the hiring manager and a colleague. They said it would be a conversation, but it felt more like an interrogation. They had me go through my resume again and asked a lot of tough questions about my past experience, even questioning if I was sure my old job would rehire me. A couple of weeks later, they told me the first position was filled but offered another entry-level role. I accepted, went for another in-person interview, and they mentioned passing on the first two candidates and discussed a background check. I was told I'd get an update by the end of the next week, but then got a standard email saying they chose someone else. It was pretty exhausting and not a very pleasant experience.
- Tell me, what things make you angry?
- How would you rate your problem-solving skills on a scale of 1 to 10?
- Which class in college did you like the most?
Business Manager
So I had this initial phone screening, where they asked about my background and experience. The recruiter said the hiring manager would get back to me in a few days, but it actually took like a week and a half. Then I went in for an in-person interview. When I got there, it turned out to be a group interview. They asked typical behavior-based questions like how I've dealt with difficult people, a time I failed and how I handled it, what my personal brand is, and how I react to being micro-managed. Honestly, I didn't feel like my interview went too well. Some of them were nice, but the vibe from the interviewers wasn't super welcoming. Expect a more formal interview, not really a conversation. The part that really turned me off was how I found out I didn't get the job - an automated email from HR. I get that people are busy, but an email from one of the four hiring managers would have been more professional.
- Can you describe your personal brand?
- How do you deal with difficult people?
Event Manager
I found the job on a job website. The HR staffing coordinator reached out a few weeks later to set up the first phone interview. She was nice and described the role, benefits, and asked a bunch of questions for about an hour while typing up my responses. A couple of weeks after that, I met with the area and regional managers in person for a 2-hour interview. They were both really knowledgeable and friendly, making it a comfortable chat. They'd both been with the company for years. Before the in-person meeting, I had to do a sample skills test with 5-6 questions about how I'd handle specific work situations. I brought my completed test with me and gave a copy to each of them.
