Applications Support Engineer
It was a very nice experience. There were two technical people who asked me questions related to SQL and also a SQL test, and behavioral questions. There was a first phone screening and then a face-to-face interview.
- Tell me about your SQL knowledge.
- Can you complete this SQL test?
- Do you have any behavioral questions for us?

I got a call from a Senior Recruiter first, which was just a casual chat to get to know me, lasting about 30 minutes. Then, I had to complete an email questionnaire with some behavioral questions and personal details. After that, I did an online Talent Plus Strength-based interview, kind of like a personality test where I rated how I'd handle situations, which took about an hour. Next, I had a technical phone interview with a Senior Application Specialist. It started with basic SQL questions for 15 minutes, then 15 minutes of behavioral questions, and the last 15 minutes were about troubleshooting and how I'd act in certain scenarios. Following that, I spoke with a Customer Support Manager for an hour, focusing on customer service questions. Since I needed things to move faster due to another offer, they arranged two final phone interviews instead of an onsite meeting. These were with a Senior Manager (about an hour) and then a Director (30 minutes), both asking about my suitability for the company and to get a feel for me as a potential employee. Two days later, I got a good job offer. The whole experience was really positive, especially thanks to the senior recruiter, Sue Svetkovich, who was super helpful and responsive, making things smooth even with the time pressure. Everyone I met was respectful and nice.
- Can you explain SQL joins and their functions?
- What is a foreign key and its purpose?
- How would you troubleshoot a given customer problem?

Got a call from Kforce recruiter and they thought I was a good fit. Then, Ceridian HR called me for a phone interview and liked me enough to move me to the next technical interview stage. I had a 40-minute phone interview from Canada where they asked about SQL. After that, the HR person told me I'd have the next step with a manager from Atlanta, but that manager didn't ask me any specific or technical questions. I never heard back after that, and then Kforce called me again to say they went with another candidate because they felt my communication skills were bad.
- How about SQL?
