First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at David Yurman.
Strategy Associate
I had a 30-minute phone screen with a recruiter for the Strategy Associate role. They were a little late calling. It was a basic screening where they went over my resume and asked why I was interested in the industry and the company. I thought it went okay, but then they ghosted me and only sent a feedback form two months later, which felt really unprofessional.
- What motivated your interest in this position?
Store Manager
Went through 4 interviews before getting rejected. Started with an in-person interview with the store manager. Then a video chat interview with another store manager from a different market. The third interview was a video chat with the store manager, where I dressed up and was ready, but she only asked one question and then it was over. Lastly, a video chat with the district manager, who admitted she hadn't even looked at my resume during the interview. The store manager also rescheduled two interviews with only a minute's notice before they were supposed to start. The whole process showed a lack of professionalism and disrespect for my time and effort.
- Can you share an instance where you exceeded expectations for a customer?
BI Engineer
After you apply, you'll get a call from HR/recruiter for a 15-30 min chat about your background, why you want this job, and if you're into luxury retail and data. Then, a Hiring Manager chat to see how you think analytically and understand retail business. They might ask about defining retail metrics or a project where your insights changed things. Next up, a Technical Interview with the Data/Analytics team where you'll show off your SQL skills (joins, subqueries, window functions) and BI tool experience (Power BI, Tableau, Looker). You might get a take-home case or live walkthrough to write a SQL query for top products. After that, Cross-Functional Interviews with folks from marketing, merchandising, etc. to check your communication and data storytelling. They'll ask about handling competing priorities or visualizing trends. Finally, a chat with a senior leader about behavioral stuff and culture fit, focusing on brand values and long-term alignment. Questions like 'Why David Yurman?' or how you handled disagreements will come up.
- Tell me about how you'd define key retail metrics like sell-through, gross margin, and inventory turnover.
- Can you share a project where your insights directly impacted business decisions?
- Can you write a SQL query to identify top-selling products over time?
Executive Assistant
A recruiter reached out about an EA role supporting a senior exec at David Yurman. I chatted with a high-level associate, sort of a gatekeeper, and then with the head of HR. This was my first interview in a while, so I was a bit rusty, and some of their situational questions caught me off guard. They were definitely doing their due diligence, which is understandable for such a high-profile role. It turned out to involve more childcare than I was comfortable with, so I think it wasn't a good fit for either side, but it wasn't a bad interview overall.
- Could you tell me about some projects you've completed?
- What steps would you take if the family arrived at their Hamptons residence and the pool wasn't ready?
- Would you be willing to handle picking up the children from school or taking them to medical appointments?
