Best interview experience! The Talent Aq team is very supportive and responsive, they treat you with respect. The on-site interviewers are down-to-earth. The process starts with a 30 min phone screen discovering if you have a clear understanding of what dataxu does, why you are interested in the position and generic questions about your position listed on the resume. On-site interview on the 2nd week, a series of 30-min 1:1 interview (2 hours total) with the Director and Team leads. Everyone genuinely initiates the conversation to get to know who you are, however, very important to show your eagerness in the position and that YOU DID YOUR RESEARCH on their products, programmatic advertising, also your soft skills should be appealing. A decision was made on the 3rd week.

Software Engineer
A recruiter initially connected with me on LinkedIn, followed by a call to discuss my background and experience. This led to a hiring manager interview, which was a typical hour-long session covering my resume, some technical topics, and details about the team, technology, and company vision. After that, I was given a Hackerrank challenge before being invited for an on-site interview. The Hackerrank was a standard coding problem solvable within 60-90 minutes and was quite manageable. The company arranged my travel and accommodation on very short notice, which was great. The on-site day went smoothly with around 5-7 interviews. I spoke with team leads about Java, architecture, algorithms, and data structures. There was also an interview focused on Graphs, plus more discussions with the HM and VP. I even had a brief 5-minute chat with the CEO. I was generally happy with the process; it was a bit tiring but not overly stressful. The offer came quickly and seemed fair. Ultimately, I didn't accept because of a personal change in circumstances.

Analytics Consultant
I went through an initial phone screen where we mainly discussed marketing analytics and my past experiences. Then, I chatted with the Director of the Advanced Analytics team about my Statistical Analysis background and my motivations for joining DataXu. The interviewer was really friendly and offered some helpful feedback. Unfortunately, I didn't have quite enough experience to move on to the next step, which would have been an in-person interview.

Data Warehouse Engineer
An HR from DataXu reached out to me on Linkedin. We scheduled a phone chat for Feb 5, 2015. It ended up being the worst HR phone call ever. When I discussed my current role and skill set, things got weird. She must have thought my skills weren't a good fit, so she claimed she couldn't hear me and would hang up to call back. She never did. I tried calling her back three times over the next 2 minutes, but she didn't pick up. This HR was so unprofessional, I haven't seen anything like it elsewhere. Avoid this company.
