It was a pretty straightforward process, starting with the hiring manager, then a VP of Sales interview. They finished off with a mock discovery call. Everything was done remotely. This was back in 2021, so things might be different now. The team was really supportive and helped me get ready.

So first I had a phone call with the recruiter, which was pretty standard, just went over my background. The second interview, though, was a mess. There were technical issues, and the manager seemed to be acting superior, like he was quizzing me. He even had a package delivered during the interview and was super casual, like he was trying to make a point. He even gave me advice at the end, which was weird. Honestly, I should've ended it early, but I tried to be polite. They should really vet their interviewers better. It was a bad experience, maybe I just got unlucky.

Behavioral Other

The Dataminr recruiter was late for our scheduled interview, which wasn't a great start. Her questions were poorly organized, making them tricky to answer concisely. Instead of asking one specific thing at a time, she'd bundle several topics together, like asking about my sales process, deal size, sales cycle, and sales approach for the products at my previous company. When it came to salary, she wouldn't give any estimate or range, saying there's a broad spectrum they could offer and they don't want to anchor me too high or too low. While I get not wanting to anchor me, salary info is pretty necessary to make sure we're not wasting each other's time.
