Communications Specialist
I had a first call with a recruiter, then an interview with the hiring manager, or the lead of the team I might join. I got rejected after the second interview, so I don't know the rest of the steps.
- Which communications field do you feel you're an expert in?
Marketing Communications Manager
This was by far the worst interview process of my life. Starts with a 30-minute screening phone call, then proceeds to 3-4 hours worth of video interviews with who would be your manager, their manager, colleagues, and close collaborators. Only for them to ghost completely afterwards. But wait it gets better then 2-3 months after ghosting you, they will send you a survey to ask how your interview experience went. Thanks for an absolute waste of my time and all those hours I won't get back.
- Can you give me some examples of projects you have completed and their respective KPIs?
- Please share an example of a project that failed or underperformed, and discuss the lessons you took away from it.
Communications Manager
It was a formal interview with a lot of prepared questions and expectations that I would supply very specific examples. The interviewer was good, straightforward, and didn't reveal much. A tip: when asked about your biggest difficulty as an employee, say that you have trouble saying 'no.' It's important to realize we all have limited capacity, and to stay focused on priorities, we need to learn to diplomatically say 'no' to some work requests.
- Can you introduce yourself and explain how you manage projects and prioritize your time?
- What is your biggest area of difficulty as an employee?
