I was an interview panelist and the process favors who you know and a no bias decision was far from what it claimed to be. Agreement was made that there’s no excuse for tardiness. But grace was given to one person that wasn’t given to another and then a hands raised on giving one person an opportunity to reschedule wasn’t offered to another applicant who was tardy also. I just shook my head and said, this is not right. So I stepped back as an interview panelist. I didn’t want to be a part of an unfair interview committee.

The interviewer seemed to initially like my major but was then very disappointed to find out it was a certificate program (which it wasn't, it's an Associate of Applied Science in Cybersecurity). After that, the interview seemed to go poorly as she started criticizing my volunteer experience and my previous role as a Front Desk Receptionist. I found her comments like, "Well, I don't want a receptionist. They are lazy and don't do anything." to be rude and inconsiderate, especially since my prior experience as a front desk receptionist was very busy and I was the only one working there.

The interview process was pretty chill. First, there was a phone interview. Then, after about 1-3 months, I interviewed with the director, a team member, and another employee. It was the easiest interview I've ever had, even if it felt a bit made-up. I liked that they stuck to work-related questions. If I get the job, they'll do a background check, and it might take a while for the hiring manager to get back to me.

This was for a mental health counselor role and the interview process was fairly straightforward. I had a panel interview with three people. They offered me the job, but I declined because after the offer, they mentioned that I would "possibly" have to travel to another campus, which they didn't mention earlier, even when I asked about my campus preference. Also, they weren't providing any COVID protection like sneeze guards and said I'd have to buy them myself, which was strange given they expected face-to-face interaction with students.
