First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Daikin.
Engineer
It was a really good interview process, they kept me in the loop the whole time and it was organized. The questions they asked were spot on and tough, which was a good way to show what I know. All in all, I had a good time and it felt professional.
- Could you start by telling me about yourself? What made you interested in this role?
- What do you consider to be your main strengths and weaknesses?
- Can you share an example of a difficult situation you encountered at work and explain your approach to resolving it?
Design Engineer
You'll go through a few interview stages, like a screening process, an interview with the team leader, and a knowledge test. They'll ask about your previous work and accomplishments, and then dive deeper into what you've shared.
- Tell me about your passion for design.
- What are your past experiences and achievements?
- Can you expand on what you've told me about your experiences and achievements?
Engineer
The whole process involves 2 interviews. First is a technical interview that is mostly about hard skills and is quite fast with 1 or 2 engineers. The technical questions were not difficult, just some basic stuff for the area. Second interview is much longer and harder, with 4 directors grilling you on how you'd solve interpersonal issues, deal with colleagues and bosses, your work methods, goals, and what you'd do if a project is behind schedule. They then offered a salary that was insultingly low, less than 500€/month than I was already making, and said they prefer to reward employees with things like 'work abroad opportunities'. I'm already an expat, my whole life is a work abroad opportunity. So I refused the offer.
- Can you describe the workings of a refrigeration cycle?
- Regarding a closed room, explain why leaving the refrigerator door open won't cool the room.
- What actions would you take if your boss's boss instructed you to do something you know isn't the correct solution to the current problems?
