Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at DAI.
Associate
I applied about two months ago and was contacted to schedule a call with the department head. The whole process was quite fast, with just one interview. A day before my interview, HR sent over a ToR review exercise that took an hour. I had to go through a ToR and answer some questions about budgeting, international tax law compliance, and general feedback. It wasn't a bad experience. My best advice is to connect with people at DAI on LinkedIn and ask them for interview tips; they offer great insights, which was super helpful for me.
- Can you describe what a budget would look like, considering we base it on daily fee rates and consultant expenses?
- What are your thoughts regarding the proposed timing and duration for this ToR?
Associate
I had an HR screening call first, and then met with a panel of my potential future managers. The process was pretty simple, the panel asked behavioral questions in a relaxed setting. It moved fast, and I got an offer within about two weeks.
- Describe a situation where you had a disagreement with someone and how you resolved it.
- How do you handle having too many tasks and a heavy schedule?
Program Associate
I had 3 interviews with DAI. They asked for references within 24 hours and for me to block off calendar time for a call. Then, they emailed to say the position was no longer available. The interviewers seemed uninterested and were kind of rude.
- Can you describe your experience with USAID grants?
