The interview process includes two interviews: a preliminary one and an in-person interview with an account manager. The in-person interview goes more in-depth about the job. You have to pass both to get hired. The preliminary interview is very short with relatively easy questions. Smiling and having a positive attitude during the interview is key to getting a second interview with the account manager, who makes the final hiring decision. We talked about past work experiences at previous jobs in the preliminary interview.

I was selected for an interview after the company showed interest in my resume submission. I had done some research on the company because I was interested in the marketing industry, but I was a bit skeptical about how they operated based on other reviews and their vague website. I had a quick 10-15 minute interview with the hiring manager. They asked questions about my background and resume, and what I was looking for in a company. The hiring manager was friendly and conducted the interview well. They answered my questions about the company and asked if I had any more. Later that day, I got a call saying I was chosen for a second interview the next day, where I would meet an account manager and experience the company's daily operations.

During the first couple of interviews, they weren't totally upfront about things. It wasn't until I'd been there a few months and started hiring for my own team that I realized how much we gloss over stuff in interviews. For example, we don't disclose that the MCSL agreement basically overrides Oregon's employment laws to make hourly pay work. We also don't mention that after the second week, you have to hit a certain quota or you can't work the rest of the week. And we don't talk about how senior folks are basically required to put in up to 60 hours a week, with about 25 of those being unpaid. The whole way the company is set up employment-wise is pretty dishonest and unprofessional.
