There were 5 levels of questions. They asked about me, why I want to join DE Shaw, and if I know what the team does. They also inquired about my blogs, M&A (definition and examples), different investment asset classes, and cryptocurrency. They asked follow-up questions on crypto and a guesstimate about revenue generation for a Diljit Dosanjh concert.

I had an initial Exploro call that lasted 45 minutes. Then, there were two video interview rounds. The first was with someone from the business side, and the second was with a team member focusing on my current role, and they asked some basic questions about why I'm looking for a change. Finally, I had a round with the Hiring Manager.

I applied online and the whole thing took about 6 weeks. There were 3 phone interviews and then 4 rounds of in-person interviews at their Hyderabad office. They also gave me a tour and I got to see their culture. I really liked the staff, culture, and environment. It's a shame they had to close the position because their hiring needs changed, so it wasn't filled.
