SDET Backend Engineer
So I had this interview for an SDET Backend role. It started with like a formal intro, then they hit me with some coding questions like finding the kth largest element in an array, dealing with 0s and 1s in an array, and implementing binary search. Also threw in some theory questions about Selenium because I had a project on that.
- What are your thoughts on finding the kth largest element in the array?
- How would you handle 0's and 1's in the array?
- Can you implement binary search?
Software Engineer
First, you gotta send in your resume and cover letter, either through their online portal or by email. Sometimes you'll need to fill out an extra form too. Then, a recruiter or HR person will check if your resume looks like a good fit for the job. If it does, they'll call you for a quick chat, maybe on the phone or video, to ask some basic stuff about you and why you want the job. After that, if you passed the first call, you'll have a more serious interview with a hiring manager or a group of people. This could be video, phone, or in-person, and they'll ask about your experience, skills, and how you handle work stuff. For some jobs, especially tech ones, they might give you a task to do, like a coding problem or a case study, to see how you work. Often there's a second round of interviews, especially if it's a more senior spot. You'll talk more about the job with some of the higher-ups or people you'd be working with. If all the interviews and tasks went well, they'll probably do some background checks and call your references to confirm what you said and see what others think of you. Finally, if everything's good and they want to hire you, they'll send you a job offer, usually with details on pay, benefits, and when you start. You can then decide to take it or try to negotiate things like salary or benefits. Once you both agree, you sign it and get ready to start.
- Could you share an instance where you encountered a difficulty at work and how you managed it?
- Tell me about a time you faced a challenge at work and how you dealt with it.
Software Development Engineer in Test
Hiring process on campus: First, there was a Quantitative & Verbal Aptitude test with 2 coding questions on Leetcode, easy to medium difficulty, focusing on String Manipulation and Math. Round 2 was a Technical Interview with DSA questions. They asked for Majority Element in an Array, expecting Boyer's Moore Voting Algorithm, and Arrange 0's, 1's, and 2's in order, expecting the Two Pointer method. Also, they asked to explain TCP/UDP with an example. Round 3 involved Medium Leetcode graphs problems and discussing projects on my resume. Round 4 was a HR round with basic questions about my family background.
- Tell me about finding the Majority Element in an Array, specifically without using extra space.
- Can you arrange 0's, 1's and 2's in order in an Array, without using extra space and without sorting?
- Could you explain TCP/UDP with an example?
Customer Success Manager
The interview started with a recruiter screen to make sure I met the basic requirements. After that, I had a Zoom interview with the VP where we discussed my work history and went through scenario-based and behavioral questions. The questions mainly focused on how I handle customer adoption, feature requests, upsells/expansion, success plans, renewals, and other common Customer Success tasks. I didn't make it to the next round because they felt I lacked sufficient upsell/expansion and renewals experience, which was strange because I actually led my team in those areas and had even managed a renewals program. They also questioned my technical skills. It felt like they weren't really listening, as my strengths ended up being the reasons for my disqualification.
- In your past positions, were you in charge of renewals? What was your strategy for handling them?
- Can you describe your process for handling customer adoption?
- How do you manage incoming feature requests from customers?
