First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Cypress-Fairbanks ISD.
Teacher
It was a 3-round interview process, which felt right for the job. Different people were involved from the district, content area, and the school itself. The first interview was definitely a screening, then I had longer ones with the content coordinator and then the principal at the campus.
- Can you describe your approach to managing a classroom?
- What are your pedagogical strategies for this specific content area?
Teacher
Applied online for a teaching position and about a week later got an email inviting to do a digital interview. I didn't like the digital interview process but did it anyways. And then..... nothing. A few months later I decided to apply for a substitute position. Once again, I received an email participate in a digital interview which I completed right away and nothing again. I really don't know what they are looking for. I have 13 years of teaching experience and also have a MS in Education. My references are just fine too. I am about to give up on the whole process.
- Tell about yourself.
- How do you deal with classroom management?
- How do you communicate with parents?
Teacher
I got an email asking me to come in for a screening interview with the district. During the interview, I was asked typical teacher questions and the interviewer took notes. I was told my interview would be scored and entered into the system so schools could see it. Within two hours, I had two more interviews scheduled for the same or next day. I was hired on the spot after one of those interviews.
- Can you describe a lesson you've taught, from beginning to end?
- Our campus has an open concept layout. For many teachers, this can be a significant adjustment. What are your thoughts on teaching in an open concept environment?
- Imagine a parent contacts you, extremely upset and possibly not having all the facts. How would you handle that conversation?
