First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Cypress-Fairbanks ISD.
Teacher
It was a 3-round interview process, which felt right for the job. Different people were involved from the district, content area, and the school itself. The first interview was definitely a screening, then I had longer ones with the content coordinator and then the principal at the campus.
- Can you describe your approach to managing a classroom?
- What are your pedagogical strategies for this specific content area?
Paraprofessional
I applied and then had to take an in-person exam at their main office. After that, I got an email from an Elementary school and interviewed with the Principal and the assistant principal. About a week later, they offered me a position.
- Can you tell me about your experience working in a school setting?
Paraprofessional
Sometimes there might be more than one person interviewing you, like a teacher and an assistant principal. The Principal will definitely be there. You'll talk about yourself and what you can offer to the children. You might be asked how to handle a child who is misbehaving. Keep your answers brief and straightforward. The most important thing is to show you can handle children and also work under pressure when needed. There isn't a lot to ask you about.
- Are you able to handle working under pressure?
- Can you handle the demands children can present, as this can be overwhelming for some?
Teacher
Applied online for a teaching position and about a week later got an email inviting to do a digital interview. I didn't like the digital interview process but did it anyways. And then..... nothing. A few months later I decided to apply for a substitute position. Once again, I received an email participate in a digital interview which I completed right away and nothing again. I really don't know what they are looking for. I have 13 years of teaching experience and also have a MS in Education. My references are just fine too. I am about to give up on the whole process.
- Tell about yourself.
- How do you deal with classroom management?
- How do you communicate with parents?
