First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Currys.
Sales Consultant
The recruiter called me for a group interview which involved several activities such as team exercises based on scenarios, a presentation where I had to sell a random item to the entire group, and an individual written exercise about handling a specific situation. My advice is to study CPW five fundamentals, as this is their company culture and all questions are derived from it.
- How would you handle a busy store situation with a long queue while you're already with a customer?
- Tell me about a time you faced a conflict and the result.

So I applied online and then heard back about a week later. The HR department called me for a quick phone chat, asking why I wanted to work at Carphone and if I thought I was a good fit. After that, I got set up for an in-person interview with the store manager. We talked for about 20 minutes, and then I had to do a role-play where I approached customers and explained things. The manager acted like a customer who wasn't interested, and he wanted to see how I'd handle rejection. I totally bombed that part and thought the interview was awful, but I ended up getting the job!
- Why do you want to work for Carphone?
- What makes you a good fit for the store?
- Could you try to sell me this item?
Sales Consultant
I filled out an application online and then did an online questionnaire. The interview felt pretty casual, with the manager from Currys PC World and the manager from Carphone Warehouse interviewing me. They really looked through my CV and then asked some questions. But it's been over a week and they said they'd let me know and I've heard nothing back at all. Not super impressed. Honestly, I kind of wish I hadn't bothered.
- Tell me about how you work as part of a team.
- Can you share an instance of resolving a challenging situation?
- Was there ever a time you had to persuade someone to do something they were reluctant to do?
