First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at CUMULUS MEDIA.
Account Executive
The first interview was a very casual, in-person conversation in a comfortable setting. The second interview was also very casual and non-intimidating, conducted virtually. I felt welcomed and appreciated throughout the process. Management appeared to genuinely care about their employees' success.
- Could you describe your previous work experience?
Digital Strategist
So I went through 3 interviews, one was in-person. After that, I got a rejection email, but the recruiter called me 5 minutes later saying it was a mistake and they were trying to quickly pick someone. Well, two weeks later, I got the same email and the job was back on the job boards. Oh yeah, their digital vendor looks really shady too. WHAT A WASTE OF TIME!
- They asked me how I was generating leads, which now makes me think they might have wanted my personal information.
Sales
This was the worst interview experience ever! First, there was a phone interview where they asked about my resume. A week later, I had an in-person interview scheduled. I waited over 30 minutes, and then the interviewer greeted me. Just as I was about to go to her office, she took a phone call and said she was too busy to interview me that day and asked me to come back. I had taken the day off work to come to this interview, and she couldn't spare 5 minutes. Being understanding, I came back 5 days later. Despite a terrible snowstorm that day, I still made it to the interview. During the interview, the interviewer kept hinting I had the job and said they'd contact me in 2 weeks either way. I didn't hear anything, so I emailed her. She instantly replied that they were moving in a different direction. I feel I could have at least been sent an email. They don't seem to value interviewees' time.
- Could you tell me why you are interested in working with our company?
Production Director
I sent my application materials to the Operations Manager. I then had to complete an official application on the company website. After a waiting period, I had an in-person interview with the Operations Manager. Following that, I was tasked with writing and producing four promotional spots for local Pensacola businesses that advertise with Cumulus. The process concluded with a phone interview involving the Operations Manager and the Regional VP, after which an offer was extended, including salary and moving expenses.
