The interview process started with a phone screening by Talent Acquisition, followed by two departmental phone interviews. Then there was an in-person interview with the hiring manager. A behavioral assessment was completed online. The phone interviews were about half an hour long. The interview at corporate headquarters felt a bit perfunctory; it started late, the questions were repetitive from the phone interviews, and the secondary session wasn't very organized and it tested skills related to the job. It was a worthwhile experience, though I'm not sure I'd apply to this corporation again.

You begin by applying online at www.csx.com, then go to careers. You'll need to submit a detailed resume, complete a competency-based questionnaire, and then take some computer-based assessments that need focus and quiet. After submitting your application, you might have a phone interview or attend a hiring session. Be ready to talk about your past work and how it fits the job. CSX has five leadership principles: Thought, People, Results, Self, and Technical Leadership. Expect questions on any of these. The last interview is usually a panel with HR, the hiring manager, and a close colleague. This is a behavioral interview. Dress professionally, be on time, and bring notes and extra resumes. Research CSX, read articles about railroads, and learn about the specific job.

The interview itself was scenario based and involved a number of other people. Your performance in a team setting was how you were rated.
