I applied online via the CSX website. It was a group interview since they were hiring for several conductor positions. First, there were some basic tests for things like math and reading comprehension. After passing those, we moved to individual interviews. Two separate stations were set up, and each had two company reps.

So there was this big group interview with like 20 people. We did a presentation to give us a sense of what being a conductor is really like. They made sure to tell us all the bad stuff about the job upfront, so we know what we're signing up for and don't quit later. After that, there was a 2-on-1 chat with some pretty standard questions.

The application process was really tough and took a lot of time. I first filled out the application and then took an online assessment. After the test, there was no feedback or information about what was next. Once I finished the application and testing, I could then apply for posted jobs. Some jobs even needed more testing before I could apply. After all the application and testing, I got several rejection emails, even though I'm sure I'm qualified and can do the job. I did have one phone interview with an HR person who was arrogant and didn't seem to care or listen. I had to repeat my answers a few times.
