Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at CSX.
Analyst
It was a quick process with two rounds, and I got the offer within a week. The background check took a bit longer to get the results.
- Can you tell me about your strengths and weaknesses?
Pricing Analyst
The interview process started with a panel interview, featuring 3-4 people. Initially, they asked general questions, and the final question was specific to the job. They asked things like, 'How do you handle a difficult situation?' and 'What would you do if you saw someone steal?' This was all in a conference room setting, facing the panel.
- Can you share an instance where you dealt with a difficult situation?
- What would be your course of action if you witnessed theft?
Analyst
I applied via campus recruitment. The first interview was a conversational, mostly behavioral round with some basic finance questions. They stressed knowing finance basics, staying updated with news, and asking questions. A week later, I was offered a second round, which included a case presentation and behavioral interviews with directors and VPs. They mentioned they ask tough questions during the presentation, so thorough preparation is key. The behavioral part, however, was described as not difficult, focusing on getting to know me and assessing fit.
- Be ready to answer questions about your presentation content.
- They want to understand your thought process.
- Ensure you know everything in your presentation and can address any follow-up questions.
