Claims Adjuster
I had a 20-minute phone call with a recruiter that was great; she was knowledgeable and detail-oriented and seemed impressed with me. I was told I'd hear back within a week for a management interview and got an email a few days later with a video interview link. In the video interview, I met with two managers. The female manager was nice and engaging, but the male interviewer dominated the conversation and seemed disengaged, which I didn't like. He asked me why I left my last company and really went through my resume, questioning why I moved to a lower-tier role there, which I explained was due to a company need. He also asked why I left my previous job when I had another one lined up, which I found unusual, thinking he might suspect I was fired. I explained I sought more challenge and growth, as advancement was limited. The recruiter mentioned they use the STAR method, and I mostly used it, but his resume scrutiny threw me off. The interview felt more casual, and perhaps that's where I missed something, because I didn't get an offer; they emailed me three days later stating I wasn't selected, leaving me unsure why.

Claims Adjuster
The whole process took about a month. I applied on 12/25 and got an assessment test a few days later. A couple of weeks after that, a recruiter called me. Then I was scheduled to meet the hiring managers. This meeting lasted 2 hours total. First, you have to pass a typing test with at least 30wpm. I hit 46wpm. They also have interview questions, and part of it is recorded to see your reaction. You'll be given a scenario, like a car accident, and asked to determine fault and explain why. You'll also need to draft an email responding to an inquiry about the situation. If you pass this stage, you'll then meet with supervisors. They'll ask the same questions and go over the job description and training. After that, the recruiter will reach out via phone and email.
- Can you describe a challenging situation you faced and how you handled it?
- Describe a difficult situation and outline your resolution.
- Tell me about a time you encountered a difficult situation and how you resolved it.

I applied online and the next day got a call about an aptitude test. The day after that, they called saying I did great and wanted me for an in-person interview. A few days later, I went in and first took a typing test, needing 25 or 35 WPM (I got 75ish). Then, I met with two supervisors for situational questions about my past and hypothetical experiences. After that, they taught me the basics of claims and tested my recall by having me go into another room and act like a customer calling in. I used that info to write a handwritten letter to the customer summarizing our chat. It was pretty straightforward, but I could see a nervous person struggling. Finally, their boss came in, introduced himself, and asked a couple more questions, including a brain teaser like 'How many golf balls would fit in an airplane?'. It was a long process, but if you're smart and stay calm, it's manageable.
- Can you share an experience where you had to deal with a difficult customer?
- What's your estimate for the number of golf balls that could fit inside an airplane?
