Assistant Manager
Had a phone call interview first, but then I learned the pay was only $13 hourly instead of the $17 that was advertised. The job requires working 8pm-9pm on weekdays and weekends. Then I was brought into a back storage/office room (if you could even call it that) and asked quite a few questions about my leadership experience.
- Have you led people before?
Assistant Manager
I got to the building and the receptionist was nice and told me to wait at a table. I waited for like 10 minutes and the person I was supposed to meet was just standing at the front desk chatting the whole time before coming over. He was sweating a lot and talking super fast, which was weird because it was cool inside. He kept asking if we were done or if there was anything else after almost everything I said, like he was in a hurry to finish. The job was posted as an assistant manager for the gym, but he told me during the interview that it was actually just for a front desk associate. It was contradictory when he said the company doesn't just give out manager positions, people have to earn them, but then he said he got his job by applying and they just gave it to him. He wouldn't tell me the pay or even the range, but he did tell me how much he makes and bragged about it. I was supposed to hear back the next day, but it's been a week. I'm glad I didn't get the job though, I wouldn't want to work for someone who lies about the position, is unprofessional, and only cares about money.
- Tell me about your greatest strength.
Manager
It's a 3 phase interview process. The first was just a meet and greet, the next one was more in depth and then the 3rd phase is potentially in person. They seem like a really nice company to work for and are expanding to lots of different locations soon, with great overall company standards and ethics they strongly stand by.
- Why are you a good fit for this position?
