Technical Coding

This was for a contract role. There were 2 rounds. Both rounds involved coding sessions. The first half of each interview focused on technical questions about AWS, and the second half was a coding exercise. The interviewer provided a link for the coding questions, asked me to type my solution, and then explain my logic.

So first, you submit your application on Crowley Maritime's website or other job sites, you know, upload your resume and fill stuff out. Then, HR looks at the resumes to see if you've got the right qualifications and skills for the job. If you're a good fit, they'll reach out by email or phone to set up initial interviews, just a quick chat about the job and your background. After that, there might be a phone interview with a recruiter or hiring manager to dig a bit more into your experience, career goals, and if you're a good fit for the role at Crowley Maritime. If all goes well, you'll probably have some in-person interviews, maybe more than one, where you'll meet HR, the hiring manager, and maybe some other team members. These will likely include behavioral questions, some technical stuff, and maybe some scenario questions to see how you handle things and if you'll fit in with the company culture.

Behavioral Other

I was interviewed by someone in El Salvador. The meeting started well, but the questions felt very cold, like filling out an online questionnaire rather than a conversation. There were many awkward silences while she took notes. I was invited to a second round, but the overall interview experience wasn't great.

  • Can you share your experience?
  • What makes you want to change roles?
  • Describe your current responsibilities.

Behavioral Other

I had a phone screen with HR that was basic questions. Then I had an in-person interview with 3 managers. They were reading questions from a paper, which was weird. They asked things like, "If you were a traffic sign what colour would you be?". After I talked about my experience at X (a worldwide sporting goods company), one of them asked me to tell them more about it, but it seemed like they weren't really listening and were focused on their papers. After the interview, they mentioned the shift was Tuesday to Saturday, which wasn't in the job posting or mentioned by HR.
