Creative Project Manager
The interview process was interesting, but not very respectful of one's time. After the initial phone interview, it consisted of many assessments which I actually found pretty cool, but they were very lengthy. There were several essay questions, one presentation where I had to create a project plan, and then another long response for a time management plan. All of this had to be done within 24 hours. I got a head start ASAP on the tasks, so this was not a problem for me. However, I had also been simultaneously working a freelance gig that day so I ended up not sleeping. Overall, I went above and beyond with my submission. After this, I was called for an in person interview. The people I met were very kind and the facility was beautiful. The interview questions were straightforward, but I wish they would have asked more about me as a person rather than just my skills and experience. I had to start those types of conversations. I left the interview feeling very confident. A few days later, I received a call to send over three references. I immediately sent them over. A few days after that, I was asked (again) what my salary range was. It was a very modest number (honestly pretty low for the type of job/hours expected). A few days after that I was sent an automated message that I did not receive the job. After all of that hard work, it would have been nice to have some feedback. It came off to me that my salary range was what caused me to not get the role. If it was out of their range when I had first mentioned it in the beginning, I wish they would have not had me participate in the tedious interview process to begin with.
- Can you describe a situation where you had to manage several projects simultaneously?
Project Manager
The whole hiring thing went by really fast, taking just two weeks from when they first reached out to when I got the offer. I just followed the steps they laid out in the job description. After a few days, they called me for a phone chat, which was about 30 minutes. The person I talked to was super nice and took her time answering everything. Right after that, I got a task to do within 24 hours. It involved making a storyboard, a production booklet, and replying to some client complaint emails. Since I’ve done this stuff before, it wasn’t hard. Then, they set up a FaceTime call with me and one of the current Project Managers. She was great to interview with. She was really open about the workload, the office vibe, and how commissions work. The interview felt genuine and personal, and it made me even more excited about the company. About an hour later, they invited me for an in-person interview later that week with the Director of Operations. This one was a bit tougher. She dug deep with questions about my life goals, career aspirations, and what I was looking for in this role. She asked about my strengths and weaknesses. It took about an hour and a half. She was really patient and answered all my questions happily. She was upfront that the job could be demanding with long hours and a heavy workload, but she also mentioned that the harder I work, the more I could earn through incentives (commissions). She clearly felt a lot of pride in the company's growth and success, which I respected. It's evident the company culture has had a positive effect on the staff. After the interview, they wanted to check my references, calling two of them. They offered me the job three days after that.

- Could you describe your strengths and weaknesses?
Project Manager
It was a challenging and unique interview process, but ultimately rewarding. I understand their approach now; they really value company culture and core values, so they prioritize hiring the right people. My interview involved speaking with the Director of Operations, meeting the team (which was a major selling point), and finally meeting the CEO. The CEO was incredibly impressive and passionate, contrary to some reviews I'd read. The interview felt unhurried, with ample time dedicated to understanding my goals and answering my many questions. They seem committed to hiring the best, no matter the time it takes.
