Onboarding Specialist
So, first HR hit me up via email to set up a phone call. On that call, they went over my resume, told me more about the job, and we chatted about the company. After that, they emailed again to schedule a second interview with two managers. They really dug into my background and how I'd fit. Then, I had a third interview over Zoom with four people from the onboarding team, including a manager and a supervisor. This one was all about situation-based questions – like how I'd deal with clients, present the company software, and manage accounts. They also gave me a chance to ask my own questions and told me when I could expect to hear back about their decision. It was a pretty solid process, though the vibe was a bit different depending on who I talked to. The hiring and team managers were super cool and awesome to talk to, but some other team members felt a little less welcoming.
- Could you start by telling me about yourself?
Front End Developer
I was contacted by my agent about a front end angular developer position. Initially, I had a phone interview where technical questions were asked. This call lasted about 20 minutes, during which I discussed my background and the projects I've completed. After the call, I was told I'd receive a code assignment expected to take 2 hours, with the possibility of advancing to a second round. However, due to negative past experiences with this type of unpaid coding assessment, I declined. I communicated that I wouldn't invest 2 hours for just the first round, especially given prior experiences where the role was filled by someone else. I've decided not to waste my time on this anymore. My advice is to avoid companies that require extensive unpaid coding before hiring, as they may not be well-organized. Good luck finding a more standard company.
- Can you tell me about your background?
- Can you explain your experience and what projects you have done?
- I refused to do a coding assignment for free for hours.
Product Manager
After applying, I was invited to an initial recruiter call. The interview process followed a typical structure: a call with a Recruiter, then a call with a Hiring Manager, and finally an on-site panel. I spent about 4 hours at the Crexi office meeting with 9 team members. Everyone was friendly, professional, and engaging. Talking with some of the more senior folks felt very collaborative, like we were business partners rather than a formal interview. Although I didn't get an offer, the experience was positive. Crexi communicated clearly and efficiently. I'd happily apply again or recommend others to.
- Can you discuss the advantages of Product team members having horizontally focused roles over the typical vertically focused ones?
People Operations
I got reached out to by a recruiter on LinkedIn, even though I wasn't actively looking. The company being a startup and wanting to return to a mid-sized company made me interested. The recruiter set up a quick phone screen where they mostly talked about the company and the job. Next, I had an interview with the hiring manager a week later. It was a nice chat but went over an hour, which felt long. The HM said they'd schedule me for a final interview with the CHRO. Two weeks went by with no word, so I followed up. The recruiter replied fast, saying they were still in early stages and would update me by the end of the week. The very next day, they confirmed they wanted to move me to the final interview and asked for my availability. After I gave it, I was ghosted for another week. It's wild that after reaching out, having good interviews with positive HM feedback, I didn't even get a courtesy email. I get that startups might have messy processes, but that's no excuse for unprofessional HR or Talent Acquisition.
- Can you tell me about yourself and how your experience aligns with this position?
