& Process

The interviews involved several video calls. We talked about Boom Lab's organizational setup and how consultancies generally work. I also discussed my background, skills, and career aspirations. Throughout the interviews, we focused on how my abilities could benefit their clients and how the roles might support my personal development goals.

The whole interview process took about three weeks. I applied online and got a phone interview with HR. About a week later, I went to their downtown office for a 1:1 interview. The next week, they had a group interview with a behavior interview at their office, which took the whole afternoon. We worked as a team (5 people per group) to solve a case, which wasn't too difficult.

I first met someone from Boom Lab at a job fair. A couple weeks later, a Boom Lab partner (Keyot Inc.) called me for a phone interview. It was basically a resume walkthrough and project discussion. Then, I was invited to a group interview in Des Moines, IA, but they didn't pay for my 184-mile trip. The group interview was pretty involved: we were in groups of 4 and had to invent a business and identify its industry issues. We also had to create a process diagram, branding, and product features for it. This took four hours. While we were doing group work, each of us got pulled out for a 20-minute individual interview. At the end of the day, we each presented for 10 minutes and answered questions. They actually kept us longer than they initially said.
