First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Cracker Barrel.
Manager
A recruiter hit me up on Indeed and we scheduled a time for a phone interview. It was a quick one, mostly just going over my work history. Then, a district manager called to go over the job more. After that, they set up a face to face interview at the restaurant.
- Tell me about a time you faced a staffing challenge and how you handled it.
Assistant Manager
I had 2 interviews. First was a phone interview for basic info on my work history and education. Then I took some assessments and was scheduled for an in-person interview with the district manager. They asked about my management style, leadership ability, and how I coach my team. They also asked questions about different scenarios and how I handled them. I was offered the position on the spot.
- Tell me about a time you dealt with a difficult guest.
Restaurant Manager
I had two phone interviews with recruiting, one with an external agency and another with a Cracker Barrel talent recruiter. Before talking to the Cracker Barrel recruiter, I had to do an online management assessment. Then, I met the District Manager for the restaurants in person. After that, I had to do a background check and a drug screening.

- Can you walk me through a typical day at your previous job?
- What's the maximum number of staff you've managed simultaneously?
