Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Cox Media Group.
Sales
The interview process was really positive. The people were knowledgeable and driven and spoke highly of Cox. It was clear that Cox focuses on teamwork and building a community. They took their time to make sure all questions were answered.
- What are your 5-year career goals?
- What is your understanding of Cox?
- Could you describe your key strengths?
Advertising Sales Representative
I had a phone interview first, then a screening interview to check if I had the skills needed for the role. After that, I had an interview with sales managers and the sales director, which was less intimidating than it sounds because it was a chance to ask them questions and understand their vision. The interviews were mostly situational, using the STAR method.
- Can you describe a situation, the task you faced, the action you took, and the result?
- What are your goals and aspirations?
- What insights can you share about the leadership's vision?
Sales Assistant
The interview process started with a group interview with all the sales managers. They seemed friendly, but it felt like an act. After that, they delayed for a few weeks before making an offer. Interestingly, the job title they offered was Marketing Assistant, not what I initially applied for. The role turned out to be much less challenging than I expected, and during my time there, they discouraged new ideas and process improvements.
- Can you adapt and learn new things?
