Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Covestro.
Intern
It was a bit of a long process, but there was only one call to get to know you, and then to schedule a meeting with your manager. The interview process is very relaxed, with common questions.
- What are your strengths and weaknesses?
Intern
The interview was split into two parts: first, we talked about things on my resume, and then we moved on to standard behavioral questions. The interviewers were really friendly, and it felt more like a casual chat than a formal interview.
- Can you share an experience working with a diverse team?
- Describe a situation where a problem arose and outline the steps you took to resolve it.
Intern
About 2 weeks after submitting my application, the project manager reached out and quickly invited me for an interview in Leverkusen. The interview started off a bit awkwardly but soon became more relaxed. They explained what the department does and what I could expect. Afterwards, they asked me some questions and at the end, there was a small test where I had to calculate the angle between the hands of a clock at 20:30. A week and a half after the interview, the project manager contacted me with an offer. I asked for a week's extension to consider, which was granted by phone. After three days, I decided to accept the offer. When I spoke to the project manager, he mentioned he had already offered the position to someone else in the meantime and hoped that the application process at Covestro was still enjoyable for me. I still can't understand why he did that to me. If he doesn't like that applicants also have other applications and need some time to think, why mislead them beforehand? Managers who lie and don't keep their word? NO THANKS! I really hope this was just a one-off case. But for me, the company is dead for now...
- What percentage of your work would you dedicate to a project, and what's your reasoning behind that choice?
- Determine the angle between the hour and minute hands of a clock when the time is 20:30.
