I had a phone screening with a talent acquisition manager, a 30-minute call. After that, I corresponded with the talent coordinator via email. At one point, I didn't hear back for a while. When I tried to send another update, the email bounced because no address was found. This is ridiculous and unprofessional, as HR didn't inform candidates about an email address change or provide an alternative contact.

An external recruiter reached out for an initial screening. Then I had a call with an HR person for general questions. Following that, I was asked to do an assignment on Github, which I was hesitant about since they've been time-wasters before. As a compromise, I spoke with the Director of Data Science first to ask questions about the role. It went well, and he said the assignment should only take 2-3 hours, so I agreed. The assignment involved an unsupervised learning problem: analyzing a dataset of radiology providers and their services to automatically identify specialties. It took me about 8-9 hours, and could have taken much longer because it was so open-ended. After submitting, I had a call with the Chief of Product and Chief of People. They mainly asked behavioral questions and didn't share much about the company or role. A few days later, I received an email stating I was no longer being considered.

Technical Behavioral

Had a recruiter call first, then a 4-hour technical test. Afterwards, I had a video call with the hiring manager and another data scientist to go over my technical assessment answers and talk about a project I did. The recruiter was nice. The technical test was long but not too hard. Things went south in the interview with the hiring manager and the other data scientist. The hiring manager seemed like he didn't read my resume and didn't like my technical assessment answers from the beginning. He was really adversarial and seemed unenthusiastic about my answers. He looked bored, checked his phone, and barely paid attention. The other data scientist was nice and tried to engage, but I felt like the hiring manager had already decided against me. I'm rating this experience poorly because my time felt disrespected, and the hiring manager was rude. If they have doubts, they shouldn't waste my time with an interview.
