First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Covera Health.
VP Commercial
The interview process was thorough and included a case study, but it was also friendly. There were many good questions and conversations, and I also had time to ask them my questions. I got a good sense of the company's current position and future direction, as well as its priority gaps. The in-office part lasted about 2 hours, followed by dinner.
- How would you approach a specific market segment?
IT
The process was great and very informative. The interviewer was open and forthright, had great rapport, and was able to speak with ease about products and necessary minimum standards. They were great at explaining the company's mission and future. The recruiter was also great and very easy to relate with.
- Was my medical terminology good?
Software Engineer
There were 5 interviews: an intro call, a discussion about past projects, a system design interview, a codeshare interview, and a culture interview. The initial calls with the engineering manager about past projects were good; I learned about the work, team, tech stack, and career development, which made me want the job. However, I felt uncomfortable during the system design and codeshare interviews because the interviewers weren't engaged. Even though I wasn't interested in continuing, the culture interview was still scheduled. The Chief Product Officer needs training on unbiased and anti-harassment interviewing.
- Can you describe a past project you worked on?
- How would you design an ETL pipeline?
- Tell me about your experience working with files in Python.
Data Scientist
An external recruiter reached out for an initial screening. Then I had a call with an HR person for general questions. Following that, I was asked to do an assignment on Github, which I was hesitant about since they've been time-wasters before. As a compromise, I spoke with the Director of Data Science first to ask questions about the role. It went well, and he said the assignment should only take 2-3 hours, so I agreed. The assignment involved an unsupervised learning problem: analyzing a dataset of radiology providers and their services to automatically identify specialties. It took me about 8-9 hours, and could have taken much longer because it was so open-ended. After submitting, I had a call with the Chief of Product and Chief of People. They mainly asked behavioral questions and didn't share much about the company or role. A few days later, I received an email stating I was no longer being considered.
- What would be the first action you'd take if you unexpectedly became CEO of your present company?
- Describe an instance where you encountered a conflict with your manager and the resolution you implemented.
