The project manager gave me a call first, she was great. We chatted for a bit about the role and my interest in it. After that, I had an in-person interview with her team members. I felt that interview went well and everyone I met was nice, smart, asked good questions, and seemed really committed to the work. Then, I had a video interview with the deputy director. Honestly, I didn't do well. There's no other way to put it. It had all the usual questions and I should have done better. My only warning to others would be that it was via video conference. The platform they used was new to me. It would have been helpful to have tested the system beforehand to understand how it worked. It would have also helped because the conference site was set up so the speaker sees themselves talking, unlike a typical video call on Skype or Facetime. So, I was watching myself speak and answer questions, which totally messed me up. It's my fault, and since they clearly use this program often, it was something I needed to nail. But it's pretty strange watching yourself talk live during an interview. Anyway, everyone I met was really pleasant and knowledgeable, and I'm disappointed I won't be joining their team.

The interview process had three distinct rounds. First up was a standard phone screening. Then, I had a Zoom interview with two folks from CSG. The final round was also a Zoom call, but this time with two different employees. They actually sent over the questions beforehand for each interview, which was super helpful for prepping. After not getting the job, I asked for feedback to help me with future applications. Sadly, I never heard back, which was a bummer because they mentioned in the rejection email that they were happy to provide it.
