So I had an HR screening first, just asking about my background. Then the hiring manager called me right after. That was a pretty chill chat, mostly behavioral stuff. The next round was supposed to be a tech interview with 3-4 people, but only two showed up, which was kinda weird. They didn't have cameras on at first, and one guy even got caught waking up! It was hard to tell what they wanted for answers sometimes, they'd just repeat the question instead of explaining, like when they wanted code typed out. It also felt like not much teamwork happens there, more like people working solo and passing stuff to the offshore team.

So for a Data Engineer role, it usually starts with a quick chat with the recruiter to see if your background and skills match up. Then, there's a technical test, which usually involves some coding, maybe in SQL, Python, or Scala, and they'll ask you about data modeling and how you handle ETL. After that, you'll likely have a system design interview where you'll need to design data pipelines, talk about databases, and just general best practices. Lastly, there's a part where they check if you're a good fit for the team and how you solve problems, basically looking at your teamwork and communication skills.

First, I talked to the recruiter, which was a phone screen. Then, I interviewed with the manager, which was resume-based and included technical questions. The next round was another technical interview with team members, and the final round was with HR.
