First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Costa.
Barista
The interview was pretty straightforward with a chatbot from Sapia AI, but the whole application website was a pain to use because it kept glitching. My account settings wouldn't save, so I had to re-enter all my personal info and start over multiple times. Also, getting to the recruitment site was a hassle, you had to go through the whole Costa careers page and click through tons of links to get to the right Dayforce page, which took forever. Then I got an AI-generated personality report by email, which was a bit weird.
- Can you tell me about your skills and how they fit this job? Provide an example of using one.
- Tell me about a time you collaborated with others to reach a goal. What was your part, and how did you help?
- Share an instance where you set a personal goal. What actions did you take to reach it?
Barista
The interview focuses on Costa Coffee's 5 values and how you can adapt to situations and communicate. It checks if you can open customer interactions, drive sales, and maintain a good customer-facing presence, drawing on your past experiences.
- Tell me about a time you set goals and how you met them.
Barista
The manager was late for the interview, which made me question how staff are treated. While I waited, a barista made me a coffee. The interview focused more on my availability and willingness to work holidays and cover last-minute shifts rather than my skills. I was offered the job but asked for time to decide. The manager was rude and unsupportive, so I declined the offer. My advice is to use the interview process to gauge how you'll be treated.
- How flexible are you?
- Do you have prior experience making coffee?
