HRIS Manager
The interview was quite relaxed, focusing on standard inquiries about my professional background. The recruiter wasn't very familiar with the specific technical terms relevant to the role. It appeared I was close to advancing to the next stage, but it seemed they had already selected another candidate around that time.
- What makes you interested in working for this company?
Events Account Executive
I had a phone interview with a recruiter, followed by a 1-hour Zoom with upper management, and then another 1-hour Zoom with the director of sales. The role wasn't quite what they were looking for, as I'm new to the area and they really wanted someone with established connections in the Boston market. My interactions with the team were alright. The recruiter was a bit aggressive when we first connected, and the director of sales I spoke with seemed to have an outdated sales approach that didn't quite align with the current market trends.
- How would a former employee describe you in three words?
Instructional Designer
The interview process started well, but after the second interview, it was evident that communication between the interviewers was lacking. I wasn't informed about the process timeline or the objectives of the various interviews, so I often went into them unsure of who I'd meet or what topics they'd cover. The third interview was an emotional intelligence assessment. While I typically see EQ as valuable, they then questioned my limited LinkedIn connections, suggesting that although introverts are valued, they needed to ensure I was a good fit. I felt the EQ interview was actually designed to gauge my introversion. I recognize many companies are wary of hiring introverts, and I felt singled out. Despite the four interviews, I was offered the job. However, the overall experience made me realize other opportunities might be a better match.
- Can you share a work sample or example?
Recruiter
The interview process was very straight forward and the hiring manager let me know right away how many steps there were. For the remote position to which I applied, there was 1 phone screen, 1 phone interview with the HM, 1 virtual interview with the HM's team, and 1 virtual interview with the 2 VPs of HR. I was pretty nervous about each step but everyone who participated was warm and conversational. I did not feel like I was being made to jump through hoops or answer questions unrelated to the job. I received updates every 1-2 days and every communication I made to the HM was acknowledged and I never felt like I was a bother. She kept me informed and even gave me feedback from each round of interviews when I asked. I was very choosey this time around in my job search and did not cast a wide net. I only applied to jobs that met my needs and CORT did not disappoint. There were other "great" companies that asked my availability for phone screens which I gave, but then I never heard back. I had been ghosted. Not at CORT. I felt valued and respected. They did not waste my time and I did not waste theirs. That alone was enough for me to know I wanted to work for this company.
