Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Corpay.
Director
The HR part was pretty disorganized, with a last-minute call that felt like just checking a box before talking to an SVP. The SVP then set up another call with two future colleagues. These folks were ready, down-to-earth, asked good questions, and shared a lot about the job when I asked them stuff.
- What motivates you to work for Fleetcor?
- Can you describe your professional background?
- What draws you to this specific position?
Director
I applied online, and the whole thing took about a month and a half. I ended up pulling out after doing 4 out of the 7 interviews. They initially said there would only be 4 interviews, but then the job or team situation changed mid-way, so they tacked on 3 more conversations. One of the 5 originally scheduled chats got nixed 15 minutes before it was supposed to start, with no explanation or apology. When we did finally reschedule that one the next week, the interviewer didn't even turn on their camera. After I finished the 4 interviews, they dropped the bomb that the job actually paid about 70k less than we'd talked about and agreed on in the first chat. Seriously bad candidate experience, especially for a director-level role.
- Can you describe your team?
Product Director
I met with quite a few people in management and senior leadership, including VPs and an executive team member. Most questions were about my past experience and how it would apply to this role. They also asked about how to get teams motivated on the same goals and how to improve communication between different departments, which I've found is super important here because the company culture can be pretty tough and hard to deal with sometimes.
- How would you approach a real problem the company has previously faced, specifically regarding evaluating the impact of policy changes like credit qualification criteria or billing terms on risk?
- Tell me about your experience rallying team members around a common cause.
- How do you bridge the gap across various functions?
