Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Corning.
Smart Manufacturing
HR reached out about a week after I applied. They first asked me to answer some typical interview questions and email them back. Then, during the actual interview, the recruiter basically just went over my written responses. About two weeks after that, the same recruiter contacted me saying I'd passed to the next stage. They mentioned someone would reach out to set up an interview with my potential supervisor. Another two weeks passed, and then someone from the department did contact me to schedule the interview. It seemed promising, but then my supervisor called 50 minutes late. They apologized, saying they were running behind, but the interview still happened, though they came across as very unprofessional.

Manufacturing Co-op
I applied for the position through my college website and got contacted after a few weeks. We set up an interview for a friday afternoon. During the interview, I met with most of the department (4-5 people) and we mostly talked about my past work experiences. Then, they walked me through the production floor and showed me what they do every day. It was pretty relaxed, and I felt like it would be a really cool place to work.
- Tell me about your knowledge of metrology and its related technology.
Production Operator
I applied on vagas.com and then was called for an interview at the company. The interview was very relaxed. We introduced ourselves, talked about where we live, who we live with, our last experiences, what shift we prefer to work, and if we know anyone who works at the company or were referred by an employee. I passed the interview, brought the documents, and did the hiring exams.
