Client Success Manager
The initial screening was conducted via HireVue, an automated system. While the software provides clear explanations and practice opportunities, it might be intimidating for those unfamiliar with such interviews. It requires a webcam and audio, but HireVue offers support for technical issues.
- Describe how you would manage a dissatisfied client.
Client Success Manager
First there was an online recorded interview, which was quite different! Like asking "What is SaaS?". You had 30 seconds to think before recording. Then there were two tag-team interviews with two interviewers each. The first one felt really impersonal. I was asked to describe the steps for executing a software platform. After about 15 minutes of talking, I heard silence. I said "Hello?" and felt the manager was distracted and uninterested, not asking follow-up questions. I was surprised since I respect COD. The second interview focused on my technical expertise. They were looking for three strengths: Customer Service, HR background, and Technical expertise. These last two don't usually go together, in my experience. Even though I had experience with IT platform execution, was an HR Director, and a decorated salesperson, I felt they didn't think I had the technical expertise they wanted. I wasn't given feedback, but I think the tech experience was the issue. I was surprised by the lack of warmth; they didn't seem interested from the start. Maybe it would have been different in person or on Skype. I was sad not to be chosen given my 20+ years in HR, sales, and platform execution, and disappointed I didn't understand what they were looking for. I could have elaborated on technical aspects if I'd known what they wanted.
- Could you walk me through how that platform was executed? And how did you handle the technical requirements involved?
- Can you explain the steps you took to execute that platform, and how you handled the technical requirements?
Customer Success Manager
Applied and got a quick response. My recruiter canceled the first interview last minute and then ghosted me. I reapplied for the same role, and a different recruiter reached out. We had an initial call where she mentioned FIVE positions I'd be a great fit for given my 15 years of CSOD experience. I did a video interview and heard back the next week to schedule another interview with two people who seemed really interested. They said I'd hear back about next steps. The following week passed, so I asked for an update on Friday. The recruiter who originally ghosted me sent a 'thanks but no thanks' email, advising me to apply for other roles. This was disappointing because I interviewed with the head of the department, and if she wasn't interested, why bother applying again? A week or so later, the position I was told was filled reappeared, along with three others I was told I was perfect for. I applied and have been rejected without even talking to anyone. This was my dream job at my dream company, and I have more system experience than the interviewer. Their loss.
