Strategic Account Executive
It was a really long process, starting with a recruiter named Michael who seemed cool and explained things. Then I met the hiring manager, which I passed. I was then told I'd meet the CRO, but since I already had a job offer, they moved me to a mock presentation round. I had to pick a product, assign titles, and figure out roles. After that, I got feedback that it sounded scripted. They didn't give much detail on expectations or grading. I was supposed to hear by the end of the week, but didn't. Michael sent a confusing email saying to take the offer even though they were still interviewing. 14 days later, I emailed them and found out they went with someone else. It's heartbreaking, but honestly, I put too much time into it and the process wasn't professional. The reviews I've read are spot on. It's a shame because I saw potential.
- Can you share an instance where you lost a deal and the reasons behind it?
- What key takeaways did you gain from that experience of losing a deal?
Account Executive
It has a few rounds where you talk to multiple people in leadership and some within the same team. Some of the conversations felt redundant but I think most companies are doing that now.
- Can you tell me about your past experience and how it relates to your success in this position?
- What did your typical day look like in your previous roles?
- How do you envision structuring your day in this role?
Account Executive
It took four weeks and seven steps to get through the whole thing. It's long, but they can move fast if you're qualified and have the right mindset. Copado is looking for ex-athletes with competitiveness, drive, consistency, grit, and tenacity. They absolutely need you to have a DevOps background or come from Salesforce's ecosystem. 1.) The first was a recruiter phone screen where they asked basic questions about your background, deal size, average deal cycle, quotas, performance against them, salary expectations, and hiring timeline. 2.) Next, a video interview with an AVP who asked high-level questions about your sales background and some in-depth behavioral questions like, 'tell me a time when you sold through partners?' AVPs here are great at giving feedback. They'll ask you to do Copado's Academy at this point (1-2hr commitment). 3.) Then, a video interview with an RVP. Questions focused on discovering who you are, your motivators, and how you overcome challenges. It was a very conversational and fun exchange of philosophies. 4.) Another video interview with a different RVP followed. Questions were about technical aptitude and behavioral to see how you think and solve problems. 5.) A fifth interview, this time a video one with another AVP, focused mainly on sales methodology and philosophies. The Challenger sales model is valued, so be ready with examples of how you've used it. 6.) Then came the CCAT and personality test. I personally think these tests are pointless for sales ability. I scored in the top percentile though, and my advice is to brush up on PEMAS, averages, ratios, and pattern recognition for any math or critical thinking puzzles. It's 40 questions in 20-30 mins. The personality test has no time limit. 7.) Finally, a video interview with the CRO. The process dragged on too long for me, so I moved on, but the recruiters can tell you more about who you'll speak with. Good luck and have fun!
