I saw the ad on craigslist and emailed them, and they set up an interview for me pretty fast, within two days. The first interview was short, only 10 minutes, and it was a behavioral one. Someone else from the company was there but she just watched and didn't say anything. Then they asked me to come back for a job shadowing interview that would take all day. Since this company does door-to-door sales, the actual 'interview' part was just following an account manager around in the field. The person I shadowed kept talking about how much money you can make, but it's all commission-based. I didn't make it to the final round. They call themselves a sales and marketing firm, but it's really just a sales job.

So the interview process started with a quick 10-15 minute chat. Then, the next day, I got to shadow someone. The first interview was really short and to the point. They asked some basic questions and briefly explained the company and how you can get promoted fast. About an hour later, I got a call asking me to come back the next day to shadow an employee and see what they do out in the field. I said yes and ended up following someone who was selling T-Mobile phone plans on the southeast side of Chicago. This lasted all day, and honestly, I wasn't ready for over five hours of walking around. What's more, they didn't mention that the first six months of the job would mostly be door-to-door sales before we started walking around the southeast side. Interviewing in the summer was fine, but I can't imagine doing that in the winter without a car. But hey, if you can handle it and want to climb the ladder, there's a real chance to move up quickly and make some serious money. If you're persuasive, assertive, and good at sales, this could be a great gig for you.

There was more than one interview. The second interview lasted a couple of hours, was insightful, and actually fun. It gave a really good sense of the company culture and their long-term goals.
