Territory Manager
The initial phone screen was pretty straightforward. I had to explain my resume details and what I expected from a new role, plus answer some basic skills questions. The recruiter was thorough about the training process and answered my questions well. They told me I'd be moved to a face-to-face interview. About two weeks later, I had an in-person interview with two managers. It was really cold, and they didn't try to make friendly conversation at all. They just asked a bunch of textbook interview questions from a list, like "If you could write a book on sales, what would your 5 chapters be?" None of it related to the actual job, and they didn't share any company info. They didn't present the job or company positively. I spent hours researching, prepared demonstrations of my achievements, and thought of great questions, but I never got to use any of it. It was just question after question about textbook sales topics. I called the recruiter for feedback after a week but didn't hear back. Seven days later, I got an automated email saying I wasn't selected. There was only one opening and 20 people were interviewed. I would have turned down the job anyway if I had been selected. It's not the kind of company I'd be proud to work for. Everything about Cook felt automated and bland.
- Who would be your three dinner guests, living or deceased, and why? Also, what location would you choose for this dinner?
- If you were to author a book about sales, what would be the main topics covered in its five chapters?
District Manager
This organization's interview process is quite drawn out. It starts with an informal HR interview, usually over 30 minutes by phone, which is basically a meet and greet to discuss your background. Following that, you'll have about 3-4 more interviews, either in person or via Zoom. The interview style varies by hiring manager, but they tend to be situational and a bit old-fashioned. A unique final interview stage happens at the corporate HQ in Bloomington, IN, where candidates in the pool have dinner together the night before the final interviews, which was quite strange. An offer is typically extended after you return from HQ. The whole process can sometimes stretch on for months.
- Can you share an instance of dealing with a challenging customer and how you de-escalated the situation?
District Manager
I put in my application online. HR reached out via email to schedule a phone interview with me. It was a basic phone chat that lasted about 30 minutes. Then, they set up an in-person interview for two weeks out, which was when the managers were planning to be in town. The face-to-face was with three people: the Regional Manager, the Corporate Accounts Manager, and the Clinical Director.
- Can you introduce yourself?
- What are your hobbies?
- Do you enjoy traveling?
