Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Cook Medical Inc.
Quality Engineer
The interview included questions about past experiences and projects. They asked how I handle conflict and timelines, and to give examples of project delivery and how it was accomplished. They also asked what I would do if I couldn't meet a deadline and about my presentation skills and comfort level with presenting.
- What are your experiences with handling conflicts?
- What are your experiences with managing timelines?
- Can you share an instance where you successfully delivered a project and explain the steps you took?
Supplier Quality Engineer
I applied for the job using a few references and then got a call about an interview. We talked a bit about the budget and my salary expectations, and there was a bit of a mismatch, but we didn't go over the full compensation until later. The interview was set up, and when I got there, the interviewers seemed a bit unprepared and stressed. It was just one interview with three people. I didn't hear anything after that until I got an offer via email, no phone call. I had a bunch of questions about the whole pay and benefits package. In the end, I turned it down because the offer wasn't competitive. Since it's a job that involves travel, the medical plan didn't have a maximum for out-of-network care, and 'out-of-network' meant anywhere other than the clinic at Cook properties. That was just too much risk for me. The base salary was less than $6k more than what I'm making now, and when you factored in the other benefits, I would have actually made less money per year if I took the job. Given that the initial offer was less than what I already have, the weird communication, and their lack of readiness, I decided not to take the job.
- Can you share your background and explain how you've handled production failures?
Quality Engineer
I interviewed with the department lead and a project lead, who would be my direct supervisor. They evaluated my knowledge and skills in product development and testing. Since the role involves medical device development, I was asked more about documentation.
- Can you explain your knowledge of medical device testing methods?
