First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Conviva.
Account Executive
The interview process was well-organized and the team was very helpful. It focused on my previous experience and how I demonstrate sales processes. There were 5 steps in total, culminating in an in-person meeting with the CEO. No specific sales challenge was given.
- What's your strategy for entering new accounts?
Senior Software Engineer
First, I had a chat with a Recruiter. Then, I spoke with the Director of Engineering about my past experiences, technical challenges I've faced, and how I would approach the technical challenges they have. After that, I had an in-person onsite interview where I met with the Head of People, three software engineers, and the hiring manager. Even though the recruiter mentioned not to expect system design, each of these interviews actually touched on system design elements, with one being explicitly a system design interview. They then called after the virtual onsite to say they wanted to make an offer, but wanted to downlevel me. I mentioned that wasn't disqualifying, but they then requested a reference as the final step, which I found a bit odd at that stage. They extended a verbal offer detailing compensation and benefits. They called again asking for a reference before finalizing, which I provided. Finally, they emailed saying the reference check went well but they couldn't finalize the offer, which was about 3 weeks after the initial verbal offer. The whole process was pretty poorly communicated, with unannounced calls and long periods of silence, making me chase them for updates. Pulling the offer after requesting references was also highly unprofessional.
- Design a streaming video system, including in-depth discussions on the pros and cons of various technologies.
- Can you determine if a given string is a palindrome?
- How would you determine the number of levels that exist in a tree?
Performance Engineer
The interview process began with a hiring manager round, then moved on to three technical rounds, and concluded with an HR discussion. The first technical round focused on coding questions about projects and experience. The HR discussion was mainly about whether the candidate would accept an offer.
- Could you answer a basic programming question?
- Do you know Linux commands?
- Can you troubleshoot performance bottlenecks?
IT Specialist
My interview experience at Conviva was awful. The first call lacked any company intro or background. It was very unstructured. I got to a panel interview and saw more red flags. It seems like a disorganized company. I also talked to current employees on Blind, and they all advised against it, saying it's a bad company with an unqualified CEO. Then, I got a verbal offer from the hiring manager, but he later texted saying the company changed direction. They seem clueless about hiring and have no direction.
- Could you explain networking concepts like the OSI Model and the difference between TCP and UDP?
