Software Engineer
There were two interview rounds. The first was a phone call where they asked some basic questions about numerical analysis and CFD. The second round was on-site. It started with a 30-minute technical presentation on my research topic. After that, managers and several team leads came in one by one to ask questions. Finally, there were a few simple behavior questions.
- Can you recall Navier-Stokes, which is fundamental for derivations?
- Basic concepts like CFL, boundary conditions, and grid effect will be queried.
- Basic logic and geometry questions are expected.
Software Engineer
I applied online and the hiring manager reached out about a week later. The interview day involved meeting Keith (an owner/VP) first. He seemed to be assessing if I'd be a good culture fit. We discussed his passion for the company, and I shared why I was excited about the role. This eased me into the technical interview with the hiring manager and the whole software team. We went over some basic algorithmic problems out loud, C++ technical questions, and my background. It was a chance for them to see my problem-solving approach. After that, we had lunch and I got a tour. It was a really relaxed interview process because they want to understand your methods and get to know you, not trip you up. I was impressed.

I applied for the job via an employee referral. The company owner contacted me via email to set up a phone interview, which I just completed. I was informed that an on-site interview is likely in a couple of weeks.

- Can you define what 1st order and 2nd order accuracy mean?
- Since a 2nd order scheme is more accurate, why might a 1st order scheme be used for the convective term in some situations?
