Engineer
- Would you like to start with some casual conversation about your commute or the weather to get comfortable?
- Can you tell us about your background, work experience, and current role?
- Why did you apply for this position, and what drives you?
Engineer
This is the second round of interviews and it lasts the whole day. You'll be given tasks to complete and then present on them afterward. Both individual and group tasks are part of the assessment, and everyone's performance will be evaluated. They're very accommodating, and breakfast and lunch are provided free of charge.
- Are there any other potential solutions to this problem you can think of?
Engineer
I was contacted by HR who just wanted to know my availability for an onsite interview. They were setting up a full day of interviews and aimed to bring all candidates in together. There wasn't an official phone interview. Upon arrival, I discovered it was a group interview format involving both individual and group tasks. It was unusual interviewing alongside other candidates for the same position; perhaps an HR person got a promotion for this approach. There were no technical questions at all. They didn't ask about my previous work, only typical HR questions like 'describe a difficult team member.' Overall, it raised many red flags: the rushed nature suggested they just needed someone quickly, the absence of technical questions made it feel more like a sales role, and the HR-style group interview was off-putting with everyone vying to lead.
- Can you tell me about yourself?
