I was contacted by a recruiter on LinkedIn. The first step was an exchange with HR, where I got positive feedback initially, but unfortunately, I received a refusal email the same day. The managers were looking for someone with prior background experience, which wasn't mentioned in the job post I received from the recruiter. The job description really needs to be improved.

I was contacted on Linkedin for a Data Engineer role in Paris. The first round was a 1-hour phone call with a recruiter to discuss my experience, job aspirations, and interest in the company. I had to research their business model to prepare questions. The second round was a 1-hour Zoom call with the hiring manager and technical lead. It was a mutual exchange where they learned about my current work and side projects, while explaining the team's projects and role requirements. I also asked about technical details like their stack and vision, using information from their engineering blog and YouTube talks to formulate engineering-focused questions. After this, I received a take-home assignment: implement autocompletion using custom data structures and algorithms, with follow-up questions on scaling. I focused on submitting clean, well-documented code with a README detailing my thought process and choices. The recruiter then confirmed I was moving to the final stage. The third round, a 2-hour Zoom meeting, involved two team members. It included reviewing my take-home submission (explaining code, design, and choices), a system design question on scaling the implementation, and a discussion about the team and role fit. I received an offer the following week. Throughout the process, I had brief feedback calls with the recruiter after each interview, and they set expectations for the next steps. The entire process took a month, felt well-structured for candidates to demonstrate their abilities and commitment, and the interviewers and HR were very friendly and helpful. It was a positive interviewing experience in Paris and worth the time investment.

So I went through the recruitment for the Data Engineer intern role at Contentsquare. It had three parts: an HR chat, a meeting with the Hiring Manager, and then a technical take-home task. It all went really smoothly and gave me a good feel for things. Antoine Sauget from HR was super helpful and quick to respond, always guiding me and answering questions fast. Talking with the Hiring Manager was cool too, they shared a lot about the job and what it's like to work there. All in all, Contentsquare's hiring was really efficient, and I'm looking forward to being an intern.
