Contentful Engineering Manager Interview Questions
& Process

The whole interview process was super organized and took only about a week. Communication was really professional and friendly. The onsite part had 5 sessions, each lasting an hour. I talked with an Engineering Manager, the team, two Product Managers, the CTO, and the Director of Platform Infrastructure. It felt more like a chat about experiences and ideas than a tough interview. I also had lunch with the team, which was a cool way to get to know them. A few hours after the last session, the CTO called to say I got the offer. Honestly, it was the best hiring experience I've had in Berlin recently.

The whole thing took about six weeks. It kicked off with a recruiter chat, then two video calls with engineering leads, and wrapped up with an all-day in-person session in Berlin. Things got a bit delayed because people were on vacation, but they kept me in the loop about everything, even with the big time difference. Interviewing over video is a bit weird, but the questions were good, and I got to ask what I needed. The in-person day was packed, meeting different teams and doing a role-playing exercise. Super tiring by the end, but it felt like a good use of time. All my questions got answered, and their questions weren't anything too crazy.

I applied to Contentful twice, about a year apart. Both times, they just stopped communicating mid-process without any notification. It's unprofessional not to let candidates know, especially after investing time in calls and office visits. Given how they treated candidates for senior roles, I'm concerned about how they treat employees.
