Customer Success Manager
The interview process consisted of several calls with different decision-makers. During these calls, it seemed like there wasn't much agreement on how the company planned to tackle key issues concerning account growth and expansion. The role itself was presented as more of an experiment or pilot, which made me wonder if the position had a clear purpose and long-term commitment. For the process, I was asked to put together and deliver a very specific 15-point presentation on how I'd address the company's growth challenges. While I get the idea of detailed interview tasks, this seemed like a lot for where I was in the interview stages, and it felt like they might have been looking for strategic consulting instead of assessing a candidate for a set role. All in all, the process felt a bit disorganized and, at times, didn't seem to consider the significant time candidates need to invest. Also, hearing casual profanity during the interview was unexpected and not what I'd typically expect in a hiring process. Based on this, the interview process didn't make me feel confident that the organization currently has the alignment or structure to really reach its potential. Good thing I was already out and knew it wasn't going to be a fit.

Customer Success Manager
The interview process began with a recruiter screen call, which was just a basic chat about the role and my experience, with Q&A and next steps discussed. Following that, I had a video interview with the hiring manager. This was a deeper dive into the role's expectations, a team overview, and more detailed discussion about my recent experience as a CSM. The manager gave positive feedback and got me really interested in the role and the subsequent steps. She mentioned the recruiter would be in touch. A few days later, I received a system rejection email, which was really confusing because I was expecting communication from the recruiter. It felt unprofessional and soured the experience.
- Can you describe your current role and what you're seeking in a new position?

Customer Success Manager
I got referred by someone I knew to apply. The whole thing took about 3 weeks. I interviewed at Contentful in San Francisco, CA back in November 2019. Everyone I talked to was super engaged, which made it a really good experience. The lead recruiter was professional and handled everything from start to finish. So, I had a phone screen, then a couple of Zoom calls, and finally an onsite. The onsite had three 1-on-1s and then a 45-minute slot where I had to present a slide deck about Customer Success to the team. It was pretty clear I wanted to join after meeting everyone and hearing about the company's direction.
