First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Consolidated Trading.
Trader Assistant
First round was an on-campus interview. The second round involved an onsite group interview with brainteaser questions. Then there was a third round where it was either an offer or a decline. I was happy to answer any questions about the hiring process and enjoyed the group interview part. My fellow interviewees came from top schools. Overall, it was a great process. It's probably best to apply on their website and also through the school job board to increase your chances. Getting a recommendation from someone at the company would be the best way, but that's probably obvious.

It was a pretty standard interview. First, there was a round with probability questions and brain teasers, including one about the expected value of a dice game. They also asked some fit questions about why I was interested in trading and my career aspirations. There was also an IQ test as part of the onsite. Overall, no major surprises.

Trading Assistant
So basically there were four rounds. The first round was like a chat where they asked me some general questions like my weaknesses and strengths as a trader, what motivates me, and what makes a good trader. Then there were some math problems, like 18*36 and 99 squared, and a probability question about a dice game. Round 2 was more brain teasers. They asked about lily pads doubling and filling a pond, a gameshow envelope problem with different payouts, how to measure 45 minutes with two ropes that burn in an hour, a 100 doors problem, and a probability question about points on a circle. Then there was a group interview where we had to list qualities of a good trader, rank 'disciplined, smart, competitive', and discuss position holding, options, and current market prices like the SP, 10 yr yield, Vix, and IMW. They also asked about salary expectations for year 1 and 4, who the best candidate was, who else I'd hire, and about my biggest failure. This was followed by a panel interview which was also a group interview.

Applied online and got a phone screen. Then had an on-campus interview with a recruiter. After that, I took an online timed test with problem-solving questions. Finally, I had an on-site interview which included a 1:1 problem-solving session and a group interview. The group interview focused on my interest in financial markets and trading.
