Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Consolidated Electrical Distributors.
Sales Trainee
The interview process was pretty straight forward, it started with a phone call, then an in person interview which had some pretty intense questions. The manager seemed like he was really trying to get to know me and make sure I was a good fit. It also consisted of some assessments.
- Tell me about a recent mistake you made.
Sales Trainee
So I'm currently a senior in college and this entry level interview for the Sales Trainee role was really off-putting. The two people interviewing me basically questioned the credibility of pretty much all my experience. They finished the interview by asking me quick mental math questions and they weren't happy unless I could answer to 2 or 3 decimal places. I left knowing I would never work for them. It's weird because I know some friends who had good interviews and felt good about their chances.
- They asked me to do quick mental math like "What is 7/41?"
Inside Sales
The interview process was quick and painless, although took about 2 weeks altogether because I was previously employed and it was hard to match schedules. It consisted of an interview and a couple tests. Aptitude, personality, and the Wonderlic test. If they aren't impressed by a first impression they tend to not be as interested. They are privately owned so are big on investing in the right people. If you don't act like you truly want the job they won't try to convince you to change your mind because they want people who want to work, are self driven, and know what they want.
- Tell me why you think you should be hired.
- What are your weaknesses?
- What makes you a better employee than the average candidate?
