Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Condé Nast.
Associate Manager
Applied through LinkedIn and was contacted by HR weeks later. Got scheduled for a one-on-one, followed by an assessment, then a panel interview; HR/Talent promised to get back with updates but never did. There is meant to be one more round of interview, but HR never responded (pretty much ghosted, which is a shame as I had to take the time to submit an assessment that takes 3 days, more or less). I would've understood if was only during the 1st interview round, but this is not the case. The process was very quick during the initial rounds, but as they find other candidates that they are more interested in, the process becomes incredibly slow to non-existent. Come to learn that they place great priority on existing Conde Nast employees who are shifting departments or getting promoted. They also put priority on candidates with publishing and editorial background, regardless of the role and despite you as a candidate having more experience (which is very important to know since it seems you will have more leverage by knowing someone at Conde Nast prior to applying).
- Introduce yourself. Why did you decide to pursue a career in publishing and media?
- What suggestions do you have for improving our brand?
- Describe how you would handle given case scenarios.
Senior Manager
HR 30min video screening: Lady was late, and clearly distracted and doing something else on her computer. Second round: Person I would be reporting to. Was fine, guy was tough but I was prepared. Then submit assignment - case study Third round: 2 people who you would be working with. I did not receive an answer from HR after my last interview - I followed up twice and no answer. So rude and disrespectful to waste someones time and not even have the decency to reply to an email after 3 rounds. This is a really telling sign of what kind of company they are.
- Why do you want to work here?
Merchandising Manager
Conde Nast is a top-tier media company. To be considered, you need to be intelligent and knowledgeable, but you also need to present yourself professionally and appear suitable for the role.
- What is your strategy for positioning this brand?
